Answer: They might break rules or commands that their leader or the government set in place for them. If they do break rules they would be severally punished which is why they cover their faces so then no one recognizes them.

Answer: They had no benefits. They weren't even in the social hierarchy.

Answer: Yes, the samurai studied other ways or cultures that were outside of Japan.

Answer: Yes, they had the rights to carry swords and had the right to kill someone if necessary (like unofficial police) but this was only some samurai.

Answer: It grew due to the fact that Japan's cultural importance increased.

Answer: Yes, the merchant class mixed with other classes during specific times on a specific day at a specific place. This was where they could talk and have fun. 

DISADVANTAGES: MEIJI PERIOD

Question: What happened to the samurai class when Japan opened its "doors"?
Answer: The samurai class was abolished. The former samurai could be part of military but every man in Japan had to serve. 

Question: Did the attention to arts and entertainment decrease? 
Answer: Yes, they decreased when Japan opened up which caused people to not focus on Japan's religion but on multiple religions.

Question: Did anyone get to carry weapons?
Answer: No, when the hierarchy was abolished that meant that any privileges towards classes, including the samurai, were not valid anymore. This meant that the samurai did not have the right to carry weapons or kill anyone unless on the battlefield.

Question: Did the outcasts lives change tremendously during the Meiji period?


Answer: No, it mainly just stayed the same even though they had some more freedom (overall, life sucked).

Answer: They had to find new jobs. Most of them had to become farmers.

Answer: Everyone had to serve in the army which allowed the former samurai to fight.

Answer: Yes, they were able to find new jobs to do but they were still very poor.

Answer: They became very rich because people came to them for loans.

Answer: The rules were abolished when the samurai class was destroyed. This meant that they had more freedom and were able to show their face in public without breaking any rules.
