Answer: He was the President of the Constitutional Union Party.



Question: Why did the results of the Election of 1860 angered many Southeners?
Answer: Because President Lincoln didn't campaing in their region. Also because the election signaled that the South was losing its national political power

Question: Why did some Southern states wanted to leave the Union?
Answer: Because they were unhappy with the slavery issue in their region. Southeners didn't want slavery to die out, which was exactly what was happening
